What is a VELMAG® electromagnetic lock?
An electromagnetic lock is a fail-safe locking device. Its operation is based on magnetic attraction between two elements fixed to the door and its frame:
The electromagnetic lock: installed on the door frame, it generates the magnetic field when powered electrically.
The armature plate: mounted on the door leaf, it is attracted to the electromagnetic lock to keep the door securely locked.
When the power supply is cut — following an opening command or a power failure — the door unlocks instantly. This opening command can come from a push button, an access control system or a manual release device.
